The Recycle for Cornwall campaign has been developed to raise public awareness of recycling and to provide consumers with a compelling reason to recycle.
• Strips of paper (newspaper and/or coloured paper) • Wallpaper paste (fungicide free) • Some plastic bowls • Petroleum jelly (for example Vaseline) • PVA glue
How to make it:
1. Cover the inside or outside, of the bowl with the Petroleum jelly
2. Make up the wallpaper paste (it needs to be quite thick in consistency)
3. Cover a strip of paper with the wallpaper paste and lay it on the bowl. Keep laying more and more strips of paper covered in the paste, until you have covered the bowl with several layers of paper
4. To decorate the bowl, you can add pieces of coloured or patterned paper as the last layers
5. Once the papier-mâché is dry, gently squeeze the plastic bowl to separate it from the papier-mâché bowl
6. If you did not use coloured paper, or would like to add some more decorations, you can paint the bowl, but make sure the paint is not too thin
7. Once the paint is dry, cover the bowl in a thin layer of PVA Glue to act as a varnish protecting the bowl
You don't have to stop at bowls! Use chicken wire or balloons to make different shapes, such as a mask.
