  Plastic Recycling Facts

• Plastic makes up 11% of average household waste in Cornwall.

• Plastic is made from oil, which is a non-renewable resource. This means that one day it will run out.

• Plastic things, which are thrown away and get dumped in landfill sites, do not rot away very easily and often stay in landfill sites for 100s of years.

• Recycling just one plastic bottle saves enough energy to power a 60W light bulb for six hours.
