The Recycle for Cornwall campaign has been developed to raise public awareness of recycling and to provide consumers with a compelling reason to recycle.
The simple answer is that at the moment unfortunately you can’t.
The good news is, earlier this year the UK’s first processing plant for small batteries was opened unfortunately it is still a very expensive prcoess and costs approximately one hundred times the current disposal charge. Hopefully it will be more affordable at some point in the future. Until then there are still things we can all do to reduce the impact of batteries in the waste stream.
Simply ask yourself: Can the appliance be powered using other means? If so why not change it over? Using rechargeable batteries will also cut down on your waste and also work out less expensive in the long run. For the really keen there are even battery chargers available which are solar powered. Just look on the internet for suppliers.
2. Can I recycle car batteries?
